PROVISION

The Main provision for students is done by classroom teachers during lessons.  This may take many forms such as by different questioning techniques, extension tasks or by differentiated work.  Every Department has its own Department Policy for Gifted and Talented Students.

Setting-Some subjects stream students for ability.

Subject Sessions-Every Subject runs a session during the year for Gifted and Talented Students.  These take many forms such as a trip out of school, School based projects/investigations or the bringing in of outside agencies

Maths Challenge- Over recent years the Maths department has been very successful with students taking part in the various Maths Challenges.

National Academy (NAGTY) - This is an organisation that provides services for the top 5% of students nationally.  The School nominates as many students as can qualify.

Braeside Courses- The Education centre at Braeside, here in Devizes, runs a programme of courses for Gifted and Talented students.  Details are forwarded to Parents.

Kilve Court- This is an Education Centre based in South Dorset that runs a wide range of Gifted and Talented courses.  Details are passed to parents via DACC meetings.

Devizes Extra- This is the very popular ‘Out of Hours Learning' programme.  Gifted and Talented students thrive in these clubs where they can pursue more independent and higher level skills than are available in the classroom.

Competitions- Many Departments run various competitions which although are open to all students are the perfect stimulant for Gifted and Talented Students

LRC  - The School's Learning Resource Centre is the perfect place for students to further their understanding of topics taught in class.  It also has an experienced Librarian eager to guide students to books, magazines and websites to develop homeworks or for General Knowledge.

JAE Programme- The Junior Athlete Education Programme is a support scheme involving mentoring for students who are currently at a high level of sport in and out of school.

DACC- The Devizes Able Children Committee is a parent group that meets three times a year to further Gifted and Talented provision at the school.  The group works on new projects and gets to hear about and discuss how things are going in school.

A recent project has been this Gifted and Talented Website that aims to communicate between parents, between school and parents and also between students to provide ideas for books, websites and days out.
